Cork Ignite was originated by artist Simon Mckeown in late 2013 at the invitation of Mary McCarthy, Director of the National Sculpture Factory and Patrick Fox, Director of Create Ireland at the time. A project of this scale and nature couldn't move from being an idea to one that it supported developed and ultimately published. Mary McCarthy, Project Manager Kath Gorman and Production Manager Marc Anderson along with Simon formed the basic core team that brought the idea to the streets of Cork on Culture Night.
We have wandered the city, often in wind and rain to meetings with the City Council, Cork College of Commerce, undertaken 3D scans, photography, video, presentations and much much more. In doing so we created support for the project from a wonderful group of people and organisations and we have tried to list all those involved below. If you are missing do let us know!
